When talking about ‘the history of idol groups’, names like Seo Taiji and H.O.T will come to mind but for ‘the legend of idol groups’, of course it would be Shinhwa right? No doubt it is the passionate Shinhwa fans ‘Shinhwa Changjo’ who are the strength behind this evaluation. They appraised Shinhwa in Korea’s music industry as ‘the longest’, ‘super longest’ and ‘the only longest’ idol group and refused to compare them with the junior idol groups such as Super Junior, Beast etc etc.
To the approximate 200,000 passionate Shinhwa fans, Shinhwa is still the greatest idol. They believe no other groups can be on par with them, neither will there be one in the future. To them Shinhwa exists as a ‘legend’. This year is their 15th year anniversary and unknowingly they have entered into their mid-thirties. Are we still going to call them ‘idols’? However from the recent news about them, they have this strong influential power that pushes some new idols out of the limelight.
They did not change members throughout these 15 years and this unchanging feeling seems to have brought them to another peak. Shinhwa will make a comeback to the music industry with a new album in March 2013 and will hold a large-scale concert in Seoul. After which they are also planning on an Asian Tour. Obviously Shinhwa fans are the happiest to hear the news about their comeback. Calling themselves ‘missionaries of Shinhwa religion’, the passionate fans pasted posters for days during Shinhwa’s comeback and also started a ‘Love Shinhwa forum’ which attracted many more new fans.
Shinhwa attained praise for being active for 15 years with the same members and group name. We are curious to see what Shinhwa will present with their comeback this time.
